Mediums: Scrap wood, steel, mannequin arm, custom circuit, car window motor, belt and gear drive, speakers and iPod
Overview: iDJ was part a personal challenge project, to try to create an installation piece using found parts and scrap materials in a two day timeframe. My idea was to make an arm that rotated along an axle and would plug and unplug an audio jack over and over thereby starting and stopping the audio output to the speakers. I got the prototype to the stage of rotating the arm in and out. Next steps would have been to fine tune the precision of jacking and unjacking an 1/8” audio plug and tightening up belt efficiency.
